- Safety. A yearly service is when a dangerous fault – a cracked heat exchanger, a blocked flue, a carbon monoxide risk – gets found before it hurts anybody.
- Cost. A boiler that is clean and correctly set burns less fuel. A neglected one quietly costs you money every single month.
- Your warranty. Most manufacturers will not honour a warranty claim without a record of annual servicing.

How often should a boiler be serviced?
You must have your boiler serviced at least once a year as per your boiler manufacturer’s recommendations. Most people book it in late summer or early autumn, before the heating goes on for the winter.
How much will I save if I change my old boiler to a new condensing boiler?
You could save up to 30%.
Do you service oil boilers as well as gas?
Yes. Our plumbers are RGI registered for gas and OFTEC registered for oil, so we cover both. Oil is the more common set-up in rural parts of Louth and we service a lot of them.
How long does a boiler service take?
A straightforward annual service usually takes under an hour. If we find a fault we will explain what it is and what it costs to fix before we do anything – we don’t start work you have not agreed to.
Do you charge a callout fee?
No. At louthplumbers.ie we don’t charge a callout fee. There is a minimum charge of 1 hour on all jobs, and we are always happy to give a quotation before we start any work. All rates exclude materials.
Is it worth repairing an old boiler or should I replace it?
It depends on the age of the boiler, what has failed, and whether parts are still available. As a rule of thumb, once a boiler is well past ten years old and the repair is a large fraction of the cost of a new one, replacing it usually works out better – a new condensing boiler could save you up to 30% on fuel. We will give you both prices and let you decide.
